Hartland Orchard

We decided to start a new family tradition and head out to the country and pick apples and pumpkins in the fall. We were a little late this year for picking the apples, but not the pumpkins. So next year we will get out earlier in the season to pick apples.

Being new to the area I had done research on where to go. I sent an email out to my friends in Oakton and got a great response. This farm came up several times and so we decided to make this our spot this year for our little adventure. It was a perfect day. I bit on the windy side and so Palmer is not looking at the camera much today
.

This is my very first freshest caramel apple ever. I watched the guy put the apple on the stick and cover it in melted caramel and then add the nuts. WOW it was the best apple I have ever eaten. Definitely a yearly treat while at the orchard.

He even made their own apple cider. Wow this stuff is the bomb! We had to buy some to take home with us. We watched the guy make us a jug of that as well. Does it get any fresher than that?
Here is a precious little boy in the Pumpkin patch. He was too busy look at the dirt and messing with the twigs on the ground to look up.

It was a bit windy as well and the sun was shining. I guess the little guy needs some sunglasses.

It was a great day as a family to go and pick up a peck of apples, apple cider and our pumpkin to carve for Halloween. We even came home with some fresh honey. Can't wait to break open that jar with the honeycomb in it.

I love this time of year!
