Waiting for the first snowfall...

I had half-expected to see snow on the ground by Halloween. In our part of the country, that usually happens. However, this Halloween there wasn't any yet. The weathermen are predicting snow today, but I haven't seen any yet.

The first snowfall is a bit magical. It symbolizes the start of the winter and the realization that Thanksgiving is just around the corner, with Christmas ahead, which is exciting. It means that you can enjoy a cup of hot chocolate after being out in the cold. It also means the start of the ski season (which we're looking forward to this year). It also means visiting with friends and family, and a season of giving and Christmas Carols.

Although the growing season is already over, and I'll miss our garden, it also means I don't have the mow the lawn anymore for a while :-)
